Watching the specters passing
Of lives that are being erased,
Seeing the naked man
On Pegasus without wings
Seeing Life and Death,
The synthesis of the world,
Who in the depth of space
Look at each other and embrace.”
-Federico García Lorca
The story is visible only as a complete collection of pages, each resting upon the others. Every fragile, transparent page contains merely a trace of the text and image. As the pages are delicately turned, the image fades until only a memory remains. The reader is left with the charge of preserving the full experience of the book, from the careful opening of its cover to the cautious separation of its pages–finally ending with its tender repackaging for posterity.
