Standing Room Only

Standing Room Only

The exhibition “Standing Room Only” at the Lawrence Alloway Gallery at Stony Brook University will be open through the summer. For this exhibition, Victoria Febrer created an installation which includes lenticular images which change as the viewer sees them from different angles. The effect allows the viewer to control the time lapsed, and the action taken within the frames. This group exhibition also includes work by Ye-seul Choi, Heather Cruce, Myda El-Maghrabi, Logan Marks.

V. Febrer:A Sense of Place

Victoria Febrer’s latest solo show in New York City will take place at LICMarket, from August 27th – November 11th. “Febrer’s vinographs (printed with red wine) in this series on handmade paper use the repetition of five iconic forms: poppies (symbols of the Greek goddess of fertility and the harvest), wheat (another symbol of fertility and the harvest), The Venus of Willendorf, a Cycladic figure of a standing woman, and two female figures from a prehistoric painting in Cogul, Catalonia, Spain. With these symbols she creates a controlled minimalist lexicon. Through the repetition and arrangement of this alphabet she explores ideas of power, fertility, solitude and the absurd.” Aisha […]

Victoria Febrer’s latest exhibition opens April 10, 2013 at the Vicálvaro Campus of the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos in Madrid and will be on display until May 31st. This new series of vinographs by Victoria Febrer continues her investigation of the relationship of the universal and the personal. Her haunting vistas are created using only red wine through meditations on the mechanism of memory and its parallels to the production of artistic images. The landscapes in this series are inhabited by boldly recontextualized archetypal representations of the feminine from prehistoric Europe. This exhibition is part of the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos’ cultural week CULTURART’13, journey through music, theatre, visual art, […]
